1. Introduction

Most of the kids who play basketball dream of becoming an NBA player, as am I. The idea of being the best player ever, having fans cheering your name at free throw line and making a lot of money doing it is just amazing. Imagine doing what you love and getting paid millions to do it. That’s why I chose to write about the National basketball association or as you might know it the NBA.

National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league formed in the United States in 1949. It was founded by merging two rival organizations, the National Basketball League (founded in 1937) and the American Basketball Association (founded in 1946).

Because the NBA has a lot of history I am going to try and sort the whole history in a few different „Eras“[1] and players who defined that era. When talking about NBA eras they are defined and named based on the time periods.

But the true definition of an era is based on how the game of basketball is played. So eras should be named by the play style, not the time frame.

While I was doing my research there were a lot of different sites and opinions about eras, but the opinions that I am going to use are those which I think are the best.
